Permission Form for 2021 QYO Wind Ensemble (WE) Tour
Introduction
Welcome to the Wind Ensemble mini tour! Our first ‘away’ for the year is our day trip to visit two different schools on June 25th: Raceview State School and Beaudesert State School. Besides being a lot of fun, the trip is a great opportunity to strengthen friendships and try out our performance skills for real live audiences.
QYO recognises that some families may feel concerned about missing a day of school to participate in an extra-curricular activity like this. It is not compulsory, and choosing not to come will not disadvantage a member. But we know from experience that young musicians playing for their peers in schools is a very powerful tool for good. It creates awareness about QYO’s work, encourages the participation and development of beginner instrumentalists by providing an aspirational example, supports our heroic school music teachers, and it strengthens ensemble skills for each member of WE. It’s also really exciting and motivating to see one’s hard work be appreciated by a large crowd: parents often notice that enthusiasm for practicing increases after a tour! We hope that everyone will be able to join us for this day.
A parent/guardian of members under the age of 18 must complete the tour permission form below and it should be submitted as soon as possible.

General
It is understood that all reasonable care will be taken by the tour supervisors and that QYO and its officials are not responsible for accidents or misadventure. It is understood that members will behave in an appropriate manner to follow QYO and host school regulations and that QYO is not responsible for insurance cover of the performing member’s instrument. All members must supply their own lunch, snacks, and water bottle as players will have the opportunity for a short picnic in a local park.
Cost
There will be a small fee to cover transport costs. Information about this will be forwarded to parents as soon as it becomes available.
