Alumni Orchestra

In December 2002, 2006, 2010, 2012 and 2016, 145-member QYO Alumni Orchestras performed under the direction of John Curro AM MBE at QPAC to large audiences. The 2002 concert featured Mahler’s Symphony No. 1, 2006 featured Holst’s The Planets, and 2012 featured Strauss’s Alpine Symphony. The 2010 performance featured a historic and highly acclaimed performance of Havergal Brian’s massive Gothic Symphony

The 2002 and 2012 performances also coincided with John Curro’s 70th and 80th birthdays.

In December 2007, a smaller alumni orchestra was formed for a concert at the Old Museum Concert Hall. The major work on that occasion was Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7.
