QYS and Ensemble Q play Brahms

Introduction
Following the success of the annual QYS collaborative concerts with professional musicians in recent years, we invite QYS members to participate in a side-by-side concert with Ensemble Q on Sunday 11 December, conducted by Simon Hewett.

If you are interested in participating, please register below. The cost is $55 per player ($33 for trombonists, timpanist, percussionist) and is payable upon registration. Members with difficult financial circumstances should contact the QYO office.

Message from Simon Hewett
Dear Musicians,
Due to the size of QYS, it is difficult to program major works for smaller orchestral forces. So I am very excited that we have been invited by Paul and Trish Dean (Artistic Directors of Ensemble Q) to perform this Brahms program with Ensemble Q on Sunday 11 December. I hope you will join us and make the most of this extraordinary opportunity to play alongside these amazing musicians.

Ensemble Q consists of some of Australia’s best orchestral musicians and soloists:

Orchestra
The instrumentation, including Ensemble Q musicians playing the principal parts, will be as follows:
Strings for both works:
12 first violins, 10 second violins, 8 violas, 6 cellos, 5 basses
Symphony No. 4:
2 flutes including piccolo, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 3 bassoons including contrabassoon
4 french horns, 2 trumpets, 3 trombones, 1 timpani, 1 percussion
Double Concerto:
2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons
4 french horns, 2 trumpets
