2022 Term 1 - QYO Rules for Members, Staff and Visitors

With widespread cases of Covid19 in Brisbane and Queensland at present, QYO has put in place the following guidelines for QYO activities in Term 1 2022:

FEELING SICK

• Anyone feeling sick must not attend QYO activities.

• Anyone who starts to feel sick during a QYO Activity must notify their conductor, a volunteer or office staff member so that we can organise isolation and transport home.

QUEENSLAND CHECK-IN APP

• We require everyone entering The Old Museum to check in using the Queensland Check-In App. For those who cannot check in this way, it must be noted on the attendance role for each QYO activity.

GOOD HYGIENE

• We encourage everyone to regularly wash their hands and use hand sanitiser.

MASKS AND SOCIAL DISTANCING

• Masks must be worn at all times inside The Old Museum regardless of age.

• Woodwind and brass players must wear masks except when playing their instruments.

• When not rehearsing, everyone must aim to maintain at least 1.5m social distancing.

• String players will be organised to sit in desks (2 musicians sharing a music stand) but we will have extra distancing between desks compared to a traditional orchestra set up.

• Woodwind and brass players will have extra spacing compared to a normal orchestra setup.

• The total number of people in the QYO Office should not exceed 6 people at any one time.

BREAKS

• All musicians are encouraged to go outside to shady areas during breaks. Those rehearsing in the Studios should use the verandah area while those in the concert hall should mainly use the covered entrance area outside the concert hall main doors.

MUSIC STANDS

• QYO will provide music stands for all QYO activities again in 2022 so members do not need to bring their own.

AIR FLOW

• It is important to ensure air flow in rehearsal spaces. We will try to balance the need for air conditioning to cool the room with sufficient air flow coming through.

BUILDING SECURITY

• The only people allowed access to The Old Museum during QYO activities are ensemble members, ensemble volunteers, conductors and tutors, office staff, and pre-authorised visitors.

• At present, everyone entering The Old Museum for QYO activities must be fully vaccinated or have a medical contraindication.
